The annual congress of the Hungarian Pain Society was held in Budapest on 14–15 November 2025, where—for the first time—an independent Physiotherapy Section was introduced. The initiative aimed to highlight the scientific and clinical role of physiotherapy in pain management and to provide a platform for presenting the profession’s latest research findings.
The section featured several exciting and timely presentations, showcasing the broad spectrum and interdisciplinary significance of physiotherapy. The session was chaired by Dr. Eszter Simoncsics and Dr. Andrea Domján.

Presentations included:
THE ROLE OF PHYSIOTHERAPY IN PAIN MANAGEMENT
• Dr. Andrea Domján (University of Szeged, Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Studies – Department of Physiotherapy): Clinical reasoning in physiotherapy: assessing physiotherapists’ clinical decision-making in cases of neck pain and related symptoms.
• Katalin Forgács-Kristóf (Semmelweis University, Doctoral School of Health Sciences): Invisible connections: the complex relationship between pain and movement in adolescents.
• Zita Kovács (University of Szeged, Department of Physiotherapy): The role of physical activity and physiotherapists in the management of inflammatory bowel disease.
• Ivett Vass (University of Szeged, Department of Physiotherapy): The place and role of physiotherapy in chronic large-joint diseases.
Summaries of the presentations were published in Issue 31 of the FÁJDALOM/PAIN journal. The professional discussion that followed—marked by a multidisciplinary mindset and a supportive atmosphere—made the conference particularly valuable and memorable for participants.
The successful debut underscores that an independent physiotherapy section can become an important and much-needed element of future congresses, ideally earning a permanent place within the Hungarian Pain Society’s events and further strengthening the scientific foundation of teamwork and shared professional thinking in pain management.
