When a Hungarian astronaut was sent to the International Space Station as part of the HUNOR Program, not only did the dream of space travel become a reality, but new opportunities for scientific discovery opened up as well. The research team that includes Dr. Gabriella Eördegh conducted a unique experiment in space to explore whether the process of learning changes in a microgravity environment. We spoke with the associate professor of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Studies at the University of Szeged about the details of the research, the Acquired Equivalence Learning Test, and the potential applications of this space experiment here on Earth.

On the last Sunday of September, the Agora in Szeged was once again filled with life thanks to the World Heart Day event – visitors could participate in screenings, exercise programs, and health counseling. Students and lecturers of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Studies at the University of Szeged were also present to show that protecting our heart is a shared responsibility, and that heart health should not only be considered in case of illness, but in everyday life as well. Our faculty’s adjunct, Dr. Éva Máthéné Köteles, shared her thoughts about the event.

The project "Promoting Scientific Student Research at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Studies of the University of Szeged", submitted by Dr. med. habil. Zsanett Renáta Csoma, PhD, Vice Dean for General and Scientific Affairs, has been awarded HUF 2,500,000 in non-refundable funding under the call for proposals "Participation in and Organization of the National Scientific Students' Conference and its Scientific Workshops", announced by the National Cultural Support Management, with reference number NTPHHTDK-24-0024.

Students can now study human anatomy using a highly detailed virtual platform on a state-of-the-art anatomical table, unveiled on Monday at the University of Szeged’s Faculty of Health Sciences and Social Studies. The procurement of this advanced tool aligns with the faculty’s ongoing efforts to implement development projects aimed at enhancing the quality of education, with additional acquisitions totaling HUF 250 million currently underway.

The 2024 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), released by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy in mid-August, lists the world’s most prestigious universities. This year, only four Hungarian universities made it into the global ranking. Among them, the University of Szeged secured a position in the 401–500 range, moving up hundreds of places and ranking first among Hungarian universities.
